Let Us Eat Cake!

My dad is a great cook.  I have a few of his recipes, but not many, because he doesn't really use recipes.  I have been struck lately by the need to get these recipes down on paper.  How about you?  Do you have family recipes that are either not written down, or kept here and there in various places.  Do you have an aunt that makes a delicious banana bread or a grandpa that makes the chili that wins the chili cook off every year?  The Ford Family had a solution for this.  Peggie's aunt put together a Ford Family Cookbook packed full of recipes from the extended Ford Family and dating back generations!  What a priceless treasure.  Maybe you will consider putting together a cookbook like this for your family...or perhaps someone will even be inspired to start a TRBC Family Cookbook...???

Here is a sample recipe submitted by Peggie's grandma:

Lemon Cake

Mix together:  1-6oz. can frozen lemonade (thawed) and 3/4 cups sugar

Dissolve and let cool:  1 pkg. lemon Jello (3oz) and 3/4 cup hot water; 1 pkg. Duncan Hines Yellow cake mix; 2/3 cup Wesson oil

Then, add Jello mixture to the cake mix

Add 4 eggs, one at a time and mix

Bake in an "angel food" pan at 325 for 50 minutes.

Drip lemonade mixture over cake (while still hot)

Let it stay in pan overnight

Tracy, is there any way to get an e-mail copy of Kristi's, Peggie's, and Dianne's recipe? I would love to give them a try!! Thanks! Josie
