Getting Organized...

I want to share some gems from Karen's message, for those of you who may not have been there...either physically or mentally :)

Say "no" to idleness!
Practice diligence
Be consistent...gaining order in our homes takes a daily effort..it is WORK!

How can we begin to get organized?
  • go room by room and little by little
  • tackle the hardest parts first
  • set a timer for 15 minutes and finish one job at a time (like a drawer, or a corner)
  • come up with a daily schedule that will enable us to keep order
  • and...Karen's motto...Find a place for everything and keep everything in its place!
  • remember that orderliness is the goal...not perfection
  • take about 5 minutes every night before going to bed to straiten up
And here's how we can be ready for hospitality:

  • Keep a stocked pantry
  • Keep a hospitality notebook
  • make lists...they dispel anxiety
  • use the buffet method on Sundays, rather than setting a table..that way we are always ready for last minute guests
  • keep it simple...no gourmet recipes!
I don't know about you...but I am ready to go take on the day and get ready for some hospitality!

Oh! I just remembered 3 easy tips to help us keep an orderly home.

1. Deal with the mail DAILY. As soon as that junk mail comes into your home, throw it in the recycle bin. Don't junk up your home!

2. Keep a roll of paper towels and a bottle of Windex under each bathroom sink. This will save you time, and you will be ready for that "swish and swipe" quick cleanup tip from Melissa.

3. Keep an empty Kleenex box in your car to hold any trash. It's free, and will keep your car orderly.
Hope this helps! Love ya, Karen
