Happy President's Day to you all. Here is the homework for the week :):
Read Gladys Aylward pages 70-86.
Be ready to discuss questions 1 and 3 from your folder. The questions are also listed below:
1) After Gladys became a Christian, her eyes were opened to the reality that many in China had never heard the gospel. In her efforts to change this, she "tried to get her Christian friends interested in taking the gospel to China" and "approached her brother" (p. 72). Are we inclined to look for someone else to do God’s work as Gladys did initially? What are some reasons that we might fail to recognize that God might be calling us personally to do something about a problem? How can we develop more sensitivity to God’s leading in this area?
3) Describe some of the difficulties Gladys encountered on her journey to China and how God intervened (p. 81-84). What promises from Scripture can we claim as we head into unknown territory? What attributes of God can we depend on?
Also, be thinking about Gladys' rejection from the mission board. Was this an obstacle, or a closed door. How can we determine whether something is an obstacle or a closed door in our own lives?
