A Shower...and then on to Chapter Three!

Last night we had a great crowd of ladies and some great discussion!  We talked about the character qualities needed in order to show hospitality...of course these character qualities are all shown to us in Christ and His word.

The next chapter we will be covering is chapter 3 and Melissa will be leading us in discussion.  Yes...we are skipping  chapter 2 for now until Peggie comes back to us.   So, here is your homework:  Read chapter 3, answer questions 2,3 and 4 and bring a "family recipe".  This can be a traditional recipe that you make in your family, or one handed down through generations.  We would love to hear the story that goes along with it!  You may bring just the written recipe, or better yet, the prepared recipe for us to sample :).

And...so that we all might learn the flexibility needed for hospitality...we will be covering the chapters in this book completely out of order!  So, stay tuned so that you know what chapter to read next!

Lastly, next week, October 6th we will be at Kristi M.'s house for the shower.  So, if you go to church you'll get to hang out with the youth for the night :).  And, if you haven't RSVPed...PLEASE do so!  Thanks so much.

Oh...and here is a recipe for you:

Light Tomato Sauce
Gina R.

2 T. olive oil
1/3 c. finely minced red onion
1/3 c. finely minced peeled carrots
1 1/2 t. minced garlic
1-28oz. can Italian plum tomatoes, coarsely chopped (can be chopped in a food processor
1/2 t. coarse salt
1/2 t. freshly milled black pepper
1 t. sugar
2 T. minced fresh basil or 2 t. crumbled basil

In a 12 inch skillet, heat oil over medium heat.  Turn heat to low;  add onion and carrot.  Cook, stirring constantly, until soft but not brown, about 4 minutes.  Add garlic and continue to cook for an additional minute.  Stir in tomatoes, salt, pepper, sugar, and basil.  Turn heat to high and bring to boil.  Reduce heat to medium and cook, stirring frequently, until slightly thickened, about 25 minutes.  Remove from heat, cover pan and let sauce rest for at least 1 hour before using.

This sauce is simple, but very good.  You could leave out the carrots if you want to use as a Marinara Sauce.  I have used it with many different dishes.  This sauce also tastes great with pancetta.

Thanks Gina!!!

I am not a blog person but I am going to try and keep up with this. I think that we can really grow this into something that will profit all of the women at TRBC and beyond. May God use it as He sees fit. Thank you, Tracy, for all of your dedication and hard work with us womenzzz. Love you! Peggie
