Last night we finished our discussion on meditation and began one on prayer. Thanks to Leah, we had a great time talking about what we have gleaned from these chapters. We began by sharing how we were able to apply the different methods of meditating on God's word that were discussed in the chapters. Here is some of that discussion:
- Praying through scripture made praying "fun"
- Using the Philippians 4:8 method brought life to a normally "dull" section of scripture
- In counseling a teenager, one was able to use the Philippians 4:8 method to help her focus on what is true, noble, etc
- After using the questions on page 69, one was lead to answer the call to help a sister when it came
Another edifying discussion we had was on pages 76-77. We concluded that we "have not, because we ask not," and that bottom line...we need to ask of our loving Father in Heaven because He is ready to give good gifts to His children!
